1. Quantity reported at 7,000,000 total. The stamps occur about equally for an approximate quantity of 700,000 of each value. Many of these were later overprinted. 2. The Geez inscription reads: Ras Tafari - "Ethiopia streatches her hands to God." Empress Zauditu - "The Lion of the Tribe of Judah has Conquered." 3. Shortly after this set was issued all prior stamps, except the P.T.T. overprint, were delcared invalid for postage. 4. Stamps occur with centers shifted. Gutter pairs exist. 5. Plates numbers: 1m - N 2508 7 & 8 2808 7; 4m - M 309 7; 1t - G 26011 15; 2t - O 209 6; 3t - M 1109 7. 6. In 1930 the Ethiopian Government advertized 4, 153, 394 remainders of this issue for sale. These were purchased by Thomas Cliffe, and English stamp wholesaler. Many of the remainders were overprinted. |
